1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly when you create an account, including your email address, name, major, year, university, date of birth, and profile details. We collect information about how you use UNYFO including messages sent in Commons, study sessions, match activity, job applications tracked, and resumes generated. We collect technical information including device type, browser type, IP address, and usage patterns to operate and improve the platform.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to operate and improve UNYFO, to personalize your experience including study recommendations and job scoring, to enable campus features that require university verification, to send important account and service notifications, and to enforce our Terms and Conditions. We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your information for advertising purposes.

3. University Email Verification

UNYFO requires a university email address to access campus features. We use your email domain to automatically detect your university and to verify your student status. Your university email is stored securely and is never shared with other users. It is visible only to you on your profile page.

4. Anonymous Features

Commons allows you to participate anonymously using only your major and year as a display name. Other users cannot see your name or email in Commons. However, UNYFO retains the ability to associate anonymous activity with your account for safety and moderation purposes. This association is never disclosed to other users.

5. Resume and Career Data

Resume content, work experience, project details, and skills you enter in Career Suite are stored to enable automatic profile loading across sessions. This information is used only to generate your resumes and is never shared with employers, job boards, or third parties. You can delete this information at any time by contacting us at contact@unyfo.com.

6. Messages and Chats

Messages sent in Commons expire after 24 hours and are permanently deleted from our servers. Private messages between matched students are retained until either user deletes the conversation. We do not read private messages except where required to investigate reports of violations of our Terms and Conditions.

7. Data Sharing

We share data with Supabase, our database provider, to store and retrieve your information securely. We share data with Anthropic to power AI features including Study Buddy and resume generation. We share job-related data with third-party job APIs including Remotive, The Muse, Greenhouse, and Jobicy to display job listings. These providers are prohibited from using your data for their own purposes. We do not share your data with any other third parties.

8. Data Security

All data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS. We use Supabase Row Level Security to ensure users can only access their own data. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. We recommend using a strong, unique password for your UNYFO account.

9. Your Rights

You have the right to access the personal information we hold about you. You have the right to correct inaccurate information. You have the right to request deletion of your account and associated data. You have the right to export your data. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at contact@unyfo.com and we will respond within 30 days.

10. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Commons messages are deleted after 24 hours. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days except where retention is required by law. Anonymized usage data may be retained indefinitely for product improvement purposes.

11. Children

UNYFO is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us at contact@unyfo.com and we will delete the account promptly.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or by posting a notice on UNYFO. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
